This media outlet and/or one or more of your journalists have previously been alerted to the critical evidence about Kavanaugh’s guilt and the Republican coverup thereof. The evidence already exists, is in documentary form, and doesn’t rely on individual credibility assessments of witnesses.
The crucial inferences that arise from the evidence are simple and effectively undeniable. Even if that were not 100% the case, quibbling about a particular inference would not diminish the importance of the remaining portions of the story concerning Kavanaugh’s guilt and the Republican coverup.
The evidence and inferences are easily verifiable within 24 hours by any media outlet with a modest staff. The evidence is overwhelmingly known to any journalist who followed Kavanaugh’s confirmation. So, there is no need for the evidence and inferences to be externally expertized.
This communication is intended to ensure that a failure to report on the many aspects of this very important story is purposeful on the part of both your media outlet and your key journalists or news program hosts. Each of the following elements of the story should by itself be sufficient to require significant news coverage immediately, i.e., before the election.
- The evidence proves that Ford was at the July 1, 1982 house-party described in Kavanaugh’s calendar. So, almost all of the details of her testimony are corroborated. Kavanaugh falsely claimed she wasn’t there and that there was no corroboration for her testimony. The Republican mantra over the last two years – that there is no corroboration for Ford’s testimony – is nonsense. That mantra has been incessantly repeated by the Republican media and on Twitter, etc.
- The Republican senators who claimed that there is no corroboration for Ford’s allegation had to know that claim was false. In fact, Republican senators actively covered up and obscured the fact that Ford’s testimony about the event where she was assaulted is virtually all corroborated by Kavanaugh’s own calendar.
- Given the fact that Ford was present on July 1, 1982, there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Kavanaugh is guilty of sexually assaulting her.
- So, the Republicans confirmed to the Supreme Court someone who is provably guilty of sexual assault and who gave false testimony about Ford’s allegation more than 30 times in his September 27, 2018 confirmation hearing.
- Moreover, they confirmed him not only knowing he was unsuitable as a matter of temperament but also knowing he is guilty of sexually assaulting Ford. His blatantly false testimony about her allegation, by itself, was compelling evidence of his guilt. That false testimony was evident in real-time during the hearing.
- Confirming Kavanaugh despite his guilt reflects misogynistic and anti-#metoo views among the Republican senators and officeholders. Both the male and female Republicans are equally culpable for confirming Kavanaugh.
- The Republicans have a systematic approach for undermining and rejecting victims’ sexual assault allegations. Their systematic approach has eleven identifiable components that included:
a. obtaining a fraudulent prosecutor’s report to undermine the evidence supporting Ford’s allegation dishonestly
b. a sham conclusion by the Senate Judiciary Committee – that there is no corroborative evidence supporting Ford’s allegation
c. compromising the FBI, which either conducted an incompetent investigation or permitted the conclusion of its investigation to be misrepresented to the public by Senator Grassley and his committee.
d. using identifiable mainstream Republican journalists to propagate misinformation about the evidence that corroborates Ford’s allegation. - The Republican’s systematic approach to undermining and rejecting victims’ allegations virtually assures that such allegations will be dismissed with respect to Republican nominees.
- The story about Kavanaugh’s guilt and the Republican coverup is important in every Senate race. It is especially important concerning the Republican senators who actively participated in the coverup of Kavanaugh’s guilt – Collins, Graham, Grassley, McConnell.
- The women who supported confirming Kavanaugh didn’t do so believing he is guilty. They were conned by the Republicans into believing he is not guilty. Having betrayed all women by pressing ahead with Kavanaugh’s confirmation, Trump is now pleading for support from suburban women. Women would reject him in even greater numbers if the truth about Kavanaugh’s guilt and the Republican coverup was known.
- The Republican’s coverup of Kavanaugh’s guilt is also highly relevant for the public to understand in the context of the Republicans’ efforts to confirm Judge Barrett, which is already opposed by most voters. That she is a woman offers no protection against the Republicans’ misogynistic goals. In confirming Kavanaugh, they used Senator Collins to carry out the most despicable aspects of their attacks on a victim of sexual assault.
- The Republican’s systematic dishonesty and misogyny in the judicial confirmation process are also relevant to whether the Democrats should unpack the court system.
- The Democrats’ failure to expose the evidence of Kavanaugh’s guilt is itself an important story. If the Republicans had 25% of the evidence that the Democrats confirmed a sexual predator and perjurer to the Supreme Court (or even to an appellate court):
a. Republican politicians would be continually raising (and exaggerating or lying about) the story, and
b. The story would be reported (and exaggerated and lied about) on Fox News all-day every day. - The Democrats’ failure to publicize a totally legitimate story about the Republicans is not exemplary. It is a shameful failure to represent the party’s constituents effectively. They need to grow a pair.
Multiple aspects of this story should have been widely reported already since they are obvious or near-obvious and are systemically important. In other words, my input shouldn’t be required. All of the underlying facts have been known since the day Kavanaugh was confirmed.
However, it is better late than never. Prior failures don’t justify an ongoing failure. There is still time to report on the story so that most voters will be informed before they vote. It has never been more relevant and timely than it is right now. The PDF below contains a more detailed discussion of the evidence that supports the assertions herein.
